Analyzing My Social Media December 2, 2019
For my final action project I decided to look at and analyze my social media feed and what I decide to share. Im specifically going to talk about my Twitter because that’s the only social media I mainly use. I used to be really into social media, but over the years I slowly stopped getting online because there’s so much false and misleading information about news from all over the world.
When taking a look at my own Twitter, I noticed that more than 70% of my twitter posts are either retweeting or liking sports videos; such as a highlight video of one of my friends. Another 20% of my posts were retweeted quotes from different Twitter accounts, specifically things like motivational daily use quotes. Most of the quotes I like or retweet on my feed comes from my friends or something I find very brutally honest that others don’t want to hear. Finally, the last 10% were replies I posted to people I know on my Twitter. I think the reason I share mostly sports is because im an athlete and that’s what I love. Other than that, it’s also a way to check the score of live games or to track your favorite role model.
I feel that in today’s world we live in many people’s social media are deceiving. That is one of the main reasons why I don’t get on social media too much anymore. There’s people who are portraying their lives different than they live, want publicity, and more. The reason why I don’t like that is because I like to see real authentic things that people worked hard to get. Its fake when people make up a post about what they got that day, just to make everyone else around them on media think they got it. Therefore, that is one of the reasons I don’t follow many people on my Twitter.
When it comes to followers on my twitter, I don’t care who is following me just as long as it isn’t any fake page or anything. But, when it comes to following people, I chose to just follow my close friends or family. The reason I do that is because – the team of family and friends I surround myself with, and follow on Twitter, are all motivated and on their own path to greatness. When I see their posts it’s never a negative post, always positive pictures of quotes, them talking about their businesses elevating, and just talking with each other to communicate and support each other’s dreams, without trying to chase fame.
All in all, taking a step back to look at and analyze my social media was very interesting because a couple years ago I wanted to stop being on social media as much. I wanted to do this because of all the negative stuff you would see day in and day out; but as I started, I found myself just following the people who are positive influences. It influenced me to be better in the real world by influencing me to want to be more uplifting and give people hope. This tells me all I need to know about myself because – the same way I act on social media, is how I act in public and treat others.
